Pollachi is a town and a taluk headquarters in Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu state, India. Located about 40 km to the south of Coimbatore and 60 km to the south of Tiruppur. It is the second largest town in the district after Coimbatore. Pollachi is a popular Marketplace for jaggery, vegetables and cattle. As of 2011, the town had a population of 90,180.Pollachi is one of the biggest Markets in Asia and the cattle market of Pollachi is considered as the largest in southern India. Pollachi is often known as 'Coconut Capital' of Tamilnadu, where coconut exports and coir mills flourish well. Pollachi is one of the Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly Constituencies. Pollachi Parliamentary Constituency is one of the 39 Parliamentary constituencies in Tamilnadu.
