🌧️ Into the Clouds: My Rainy Day Trek to Lohgad Fort from Pune 🌿
Today’s adventure led me to one of Maharashtra’s monsoon gems — Lohgad Fort, just a couple of hours away from Pune. With my camera ready and hiking shoes laced, I set off chasing clouds, history, and that unmatched joy of a rainy trek.

The journey from Pune was smooth and scenic — lush greenery flanking both sides, hinting at the monsoon magic that lay ahead. Lohgad is easily accessible, and the drive itself sets the tone for the experience.

A nominal ₹25 entry fee gets you in, and it's totally worth it for the views and heritage you’re about to witness. There were a few stalls at the base selling steamed corn, bottled water, and other light snacks — perfect for a pre- or post-trek recharge.
🧗♂️ The Climb
The stone stairs leading up to the fort were wet but sturdy — a steady, rhythmic climb that felt more energizing than exhausting. With every step, the landscape grew more dramatic. The ancient stairway wrapped in moss, the sound of water trickling nearby, and the scent of rain-soaked earth — it was like walking into a monsoon fairytale.
☁️ At the Top: Dancing with Clouds
As I reached the top, the fort was completely engulfed in clouds. Visibility danced between dreamy and dramatic, revealing glimpses of valleys below. Rain drizzled, then poured, then calmed again — a classic monsoon rhythm. I captured some beautiful photos of the mist rolling over the ramparts, stone walls fading into the fog like echoes of the past.
